Description:

        The mob—swiftly approaching with their big rifles and a determined menacing look on their faces directed at the man sitting in front of Tom Robinson’s jail silently informing him to move or they will make him move.

         Jem, Scout, and Dill watch the mob swiftly approach Atticus Finch, who himself slowly folds his newspaper and puts it off to the side. Seeing her father surrounded by the mob, Scout rushes to his side without thinking her motives through. Recognizing Mr. Cunningham in the mob, she starts talking to him about his legal entailments and his son. Innocently asking him to tell his son “hey,” Scout manages to make him realise that he was not in his right sense; he was a part of the “mob.” Listening to Scout speak, Mr. Cunningham starts to realise his mistake of following the crowd instead of following his conscience and doing the right thing.
